Meet Mary Anane  Awuku

EARLY LIFE

Mary Anane Awuku was born in Tafo Nhyiaeso in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Her matrilineal heritage can be traced to Techimantia in the Ahafo Region. From a young age, Mary demonstrated a keen entrepreneurial spirit, helping her mother and siblings raise money by trading various foods in the local market. This early experience instilled in her the importance of determination and perseverance in target achievement.

EDUCATION

Mary’s academic journey began at True Spirit in the Ashanti Region and continued at the Victory Presbyterian Church School in Fafraha, Adenta where she completed her junior high school education due to her family's relocation to Accra. She continued with her secondary education at St. Mary’s Senior High School in Korle Gonno, Accra. She then attended the University of Ghana, Legon, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her time at the university, Mary showcased her versatility and leadership skills by winning Miss Legon in 2006 and serving as the President of Volta Hall in 2008.

Mary furthered her education by earning an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Ghana Business School. She has a Master of Philosophy in industrial and organisational psychology from the University of Ghana's psychology department. She also holds several certificates having participated in a series of international business-related programs from schools such as Temple University in Philadelphia, Northeastern University, in Massachusetts, Howard University in Washington, and Cranfield University in Bedford, UK. She has also attained a high-impact leadership certificate at Cambridge University, UK and an Advanced Negotiation Skills certificate from Harvard University, Massachusetts.

CAREER

After University, Mary was assigned to Zenith Bank Ghana Ltd for her national service, where she held the position of a customer service officer for two more years, working in six different branches.

Like most high-performing employees, Mary quickly became so adept at her tasks at Zenith Bank that it was no longer challenging. To fully realise her potential, Mary decided the time was right to leave the bank to pursue her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur.

Mary Anane Awuku's entrepreneurial career spans over 15 years. She is the founder and Managing Director of FacilityPro Management Services Limited a multinational facility management company operating across all 16 regions in Ghana, with additional branches in Togo and Nigeria. She is also the founder and Managing Director of Brain Hill International School, a top-notch Cambridge-accredited school celebrated for its high standards in holistic educational development. Panache Catering Services Company adds to its diverse portfolio, providing top-tier catering services in Accra.

Mary has always been passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences. She has served as a lecturer at Radford University, where she taught courses in Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, Leadership, Innovative Management, and Human Resource Management.

Her commitment to empowering women is further exemplified through the YesSheCan

Foundation, which provides mentorship, educational workshops, and advocacy to help women

and girls achieve their full potential.

YESSHECAN is a non-profit organisation founded in Ghana to support women and girls in

attaining their full potential in all facets of life by empowering them and creating avenues towards a fulfilling life.

PERSONAL LIFE

Mary is happily married to Samuel Awuku, and they are blessed with three beautiful daughters and a handsome boy. Her family provides her with unwavering support and motivation in all her endeavours.
